Forts of Rajasthan:

The rulers of Rajasthan had built many forts. Among the most famous forts were built by
Bharatpur Rajya (empire) and Mewar Rajya. Some Chauhan kings had also built great forts
Rajasthan, especially, in Ajmer. Prithviraj Chauhan was the last great Hindi (hindu)
Raja of Indraprasthan (Delhi). There are lots of forts in Rajasthan.
1. Lohagarh Fort:
Lohagarh is among the famous and strong forts of Rajasthan. Lohagarh Fort was built by
Raja Suraj Mal of Bharatpur Rajya (empire). Suraj Mal was a genius king of Bharatpur, son
of Badan Singh. Many Muslum invaders tried to conquer this fort, but they all lost their
wars. Lohagarh Fort was one of the strong forts of Bharatpur. Even British kingdom was
defeated by Bharatpur when British had attacked upon the Lohagarh Fort.
The wall of Lohagarh is very high and the maximum height of the wall is about 28 meters.
The Lohagarh Fort is the best tourist attraction in Bharatpur. There are many interesting
things and havelis inside the fort.
2. Kumbhalgarh Fort:
The Kumbhalgarh Fort was built by Maharana Kumbha in 1458 ADE (AD). It was very hard
to reach the fort because of its height and location. The fort is located on one of the
Aravalli Parbat in Rajasthan. Kumbhalgarh was one of the major strongholds of Mewar Rajya.
The Kumbhalgarh Fort was a great achievement of Maharana Kumbha because this fort
was a shield of Mewar Rajya. When Kumbhalgarh was built, it empowered Bharat because
Kumbhalgarh was among the major defenses of Bharat against evil Muslum invaders.
Kumbhalgarh is a gigantic fort of Mewar Rajya. The wall of Kumbhalgarh Fort is about 36
kilometers long and the wall of Kumbhalgarh is world’s second longest wall. Kumbhalgarh is
one of the great monuments of Hindi Architecture. It is one of the biggest fort of Bharat. One
should pass seven gigantic gates to access the fort. Kumbhalgarh is a mahaan fort of Bharat.
3. Taragarh Fort:
Taragarh Fort was built in Seventh Century by Chauhan Kings of Ajmer. Taragarh fort is a
first hill fort of Bharat. Taragarh Fort played a great role in the history of Rajasthan and
Bharat. Chauhan kings of Ajmer were among the powerful kings of Rajasthan at that time.
And, Taragarh was a sign of powerful defense because it was built on one of the Aravalli
Parbat (hill).
Even today Taragarh Fort is standing strongly. No dout that many parts of the fort were
damaged. The history of Taragarh is older than the history of major kingdoms of Rajasthan.
So, many other Hindi Raja (kings) of Bharat were admired by the hill fort. Now, there are
many forts that are built on the Aravalli Hills of Rajasthan.
4. Chittorgarh Fort:
The Itihaas of Mewar Rajya had begun from the Bheel Village near Nagda when Bappa Rawal
Sisodia marched toward Chittorgarh with the his Bheel Friends. Chittor was a capital of
Mewar Rajya. The Chittorgarh Fort was named after Chittrangad Maurya. The Rulers and
people of Chittorgarh had fought many wars against greedy Muslum (muslim) invaders. The
fort had attacked and seized for three times, but no one was able to control the spirit of Chittor
and its people.
The fort is also located on the Aravalli Ranges. The fort is about 150 meters high above the
surrounding region and the length of fort is about 3 kilometers. It is said that Chittor was
among the beautiful cities of Bharat. Even now, the fort looks beautiful and many people like
to see it. So, this region is among the best tourist attractions in Rajasthan.
